The major issues & injustices facing people around the world today are bigger than any of us individually.
We believe that when we work together we can be far more effective at meeting needs around the world. The vision of The Stones Project is to address some of the major world issues, one at a time, and raise awareness & support for the people who are doing good work in those areas.
Our first area of focus is Water. 1.1 Billion people around the world don't have access to clean water. 2.4 Billion people don't have "improved sanitation" -- like sanitary latrines for example. Most of us in America simply flush clean water right down the toilet and don't think a thing of it.
Join us, Mike and Danae, as we spend four months, Jan - April 2008 researching the issue of unclean water and how it affects billions of people around the world. We're going to be spending time in countries affected by the World Wide Water Crisis (Ecuador, Uganda, Sudan) and diving into the organizations who are doing something about the issue in a sustainable, best practice way. Our hope is that by telling you, and then encouraging you to tell your friends, family, and acquaintences, we can raise up a bunch of us who won't stand for global travesties. We'll spread the word and help support the organizations who are doing something that makes a difference in people's lives.
The danger in working together is assuming that somebody else will take care of it. That I don't need to get involved personally because, well, one person won't make a difference, right?
That's why we want to thank you for coming to this page. By joining us, the growing community around the world of people who are chosing to not sit back and do nothing while billions of people around the world exist in grave need. You're standing up and joining a movement of people who are saying not just with their mouths but with their lives "I will not shut my eyes to the needs of my brothers and sisters."
By joining us you'll be updated occasionally when something exciting happens relating to The Stones Project. By providing us with your state and country, we can go even further by providing you only the information which is relavant to your place of residence. This could be a major decision coming before the UN or congress, a rally in your local area, or a release of something new on www.StonesProject.org. We promise that we won't ever sell your information to somebody else.
